+Poka Yoke Poka-yoke (pronounced POH-kah YOH-kay) is a Japanese term that translates to "mistake-proofing" or "error prevention". Formalized by industrial engineer Shigeo Shingo as part of the Toyota Production System, it refers to any design mechanism or procedure that physically or logically prevents human error from resulting in a defect.
